How to get more out of gift cards on Black Friday

Black Friday is the biggest shopping day of the year and retailers prepare for months to have everything set.  With crowds of people waiting outside the door for hours and sometimes days to get their hands on the best deal, it is a great day to leverage additional spending by consumers.

Out of sight, out of mind

Keep the display near your register FULL of gift cards.  There is a reason that the location where your gift cards are displayed is the most profitable square foot in the business.  When customers are standing in line waiting to make their purchase, they start to think of other people on their list that they need to buy gifts for.  Rather than getting out of line and searching for more gifts, they can simply pick up a gift card and they are set!

Encourage clients to come back

A great way to ensure that your clients will return is to reward them with a gift card.  Including standard terms and conditions listing that the gift card is to be used after January 1st will encourage spending after all of the big sales.

  • Free gift card for first X people through the door.
  • Free gift card with a high ticket item.
  • Buy one get one gift card specials.

Why give free gift cards?

Rewarding your clients with a gift card is a huge incentive for shoppers.  Many people map out their Black Friday shopping while browsing through all ads.  When someone sees that they will get a great deal AND a gift card for future purchases chances are they will be making that stop early to make sure they you don’t run out.

Let’s take a look at how these gift cards can help your business:

  • Your customer will come back and spend the gift card.  Most of the time they will actually spend over the amount on the card!
  • They will gift the card to someone and you have a great referral.
  • The gift card will go unredeemed and the money stays in the business.

Above all, remember to be thankful

Keeping a smile on your face and greeting customers will keep spirits up on what has the potential to be a very stressful day.

We at PlasticPrinters.com are thankful for many things: our clients, our employees, our health and so much more!

I am thankful for many things. Great friends, Dragons, an awesome/fun Job, Unicorns, having a home, Game of Thrones, chiropractors that can fix ouchy backs, Pizza, Xbox, and many more. But most of all I am thankful that I have my family and my girlfriend (Julie). These are the people most close to me and know me best and no matter what, they are there. And no matter what, I am there for them. I can only hope that everyone has at least a few people like this in their lives. They make it easy to be thankful! - Mike

I’m so grateful for my two boys Alexander 21 and Samual 12. They are my ying and yang. I’m honored to have a son that wants to serve as a US Marine, and wants to do something good for this country. I love my crazy little guy that loves life and his dog Loki and cat Sophie. They are both so tender hearted and thoughtful.  I’ve been wanting to provide a good home for them.  While working at my job going on 7 years, I’ve been able to provide them with a house. I’m so happy and grateful to have a home that we can now call our own for the 3rd year. I get to put Christmas lights up, plant flowers, have camp fires and build happy memories in our home with my boys. This has always been my hope for my family. I don’t have a lot of family close by, so it’s just me and Samual now with Alexander gone, so I’m lucky to work with such a great group of people here and call them family. - Mel

I am thankful for being blessed with my amazing family and friends, my two rescue dogs that bring joy to my life every day, my home and beautiful garden, working with the best team. - Jenni

I am most Thankful for my family, my job, my patience and my sobriety. - Stephanie
